University of Calicut releases Notification for admission to Ph.D programme 2013
University of Calicut offers ph.D programmes in Engineering in different Disciplines. It now releases notification for admission to Ph.D programmes part-time or Full time in Civil Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
Eligibility Criteria for Admissions:
- Candidates having Post Graduate Degree with specialization in fields relevant to the above mentioned streams with at least 60% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average(GPA) of this University or an equivalent degree recognized by University of Calicut
- Regular Teachers of the Govt. and Aided Engineering Colleges with more than 7 years of experience ,Teachers of University Departments, candidates appointed as research fellows or research assistants selected by UGC/CSIR in the research projects run in the university departments / government / aided colleges / central / state and other approved research institutes and scientist working in the research institutes are eligible for Part-time Ph.D programmes.
Candidates who meets the above eligibility criteria and are interested can Download the application form from the website and should send the filled in application form along with original challan Receipt(Application fee-Rs.50, Eligibility test fee-Rs.500) in an envelope superscribed“Application for Ph.D programme(Engineering)” to Principal, Govt. Engineering College, Thrissur, (P.O.) Engineering College, Thrissur (Dist.), Kerala, PIN 680 009 on or before 8th Feb, 2013.

Candidates for admissions should attempt Eligibility test conducted by University.Eligibility test will be conducted on 23rd Feb 2013. Regular Teachers of the Govt. and Aided Engineering Colleges with more than 7 years of experience and also for candidates selected under QIP scheme are exempted from Eligibility test.They must send the filled in application form along with application fee of Rs.50.
Eligibility test consists of three parts as Part-I with 50 marks, Part-II with 40 marks and Part-III with 10 marks.Candidates are informed that they must get 50% marks in Eligibility test for General or OBC category and for SC/ST they must get 35% marks.
The list of Selected candidates in Eligibility test will be displayed in the website on 1st March 2013.Candidates who are selected in eligibility test or exempted from test should register them selves by contacting the teaching/research department/centre where they prefers to pursue the PhD Programme and should find the availability and mention the willingness of the research proposal. Such candidates who registers will be called to attend the interview at which they will be allotted a research Guide by research Centre.
